ISoc & RUMS ISoc charitable fundraising

UCLU Islamic Societey (ISoc) and UCLU RUMS Islamic Society (RUMS Isoc) are two of the student run Islamic societies at UCLU. At two recent events, ISoc raised over £20,000 for the charity Islamic Relief. At the RUMS ISoc charity dinner over £1,300 was raised for Islamic Relief.

UCLU statement on trans-discrimination

In issue 37 of Pi Newspaper, published by UCLU in December 2011, there were comments made about the newly elected trans representative of the LGBT committee, as well as other comments which display a lack of awareness of trans-issues by the author.

Union Council has decided to call a referendum on each of the three topics debated at an Emergency Meeting in December 2011. You can see brief arguments on both sides of the questions, and find out more here uclu.org/referendum.

On 16, 18 & 23 January at 1pm in the Darwin LT there are open debates on all three issues - come along any have your say. Voting opens Thursday 19 January and lasts for one week.

Keep an eye out around campus for people campaigning for your 'yes' or 'no' vote on the three issues.

Professor Malcolm Grant, the current Provost & President of UCL, has been appointed as the chair of the NHS commissioning board, and will continue as the head of UCL part-time while taking up this new role.

UCL Security crime prevention advice


UCL Security would like to offer our new and current students some practical Crime Prevention Advice so that you do not become a Victim of Crime whilst here at UCL. We know the problems that losing your Laptop, Phone or Bike can cause and want to inform you of how to combat crime and not become the victim of opportunist thieves. Some of the advice is quite basic and common sense, but we hope that overall it will be helpful.
